As of January 2020, Lolli became the owner of Thaxted Yoga and has been teaching at the studio since 2017, so she intimately knew the studio and its clients for 3 years before she took over and has practiced yoga for more than 35 years. She discovered yoga while working as a producer in the film business and yoga and meditation was her lifeline to handle such a stressful job and environment.
In 1973, she learned ™ Transcendental Meditation and 20 years ago she undertook her British Wheel of Yoga training with Tara Fraser. During her breaks between films Lolli taught small yoga groups and Pranayama Yoga and Meditation. During this period, she met Ashwin Barot and his partner Nikos Kostopolous, both Ayurvedic doctors, and has been learning continuously from them to adopt an ayurvedic way of living. They helped her to realise that the mind causes so much of what manifests in the body. She continues to be in touch and learn from them.
In 2016, Lolli embarked on a deeply spiritual course of Integral Hatha Yoga led by Rev Padma Devi – Founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda. It is a flexible combination of specific methods designed to develop every aspect of the student: physical, emotional intellectual and spiritual. It is a scientific system which integrates the various branches of yoga in order to bring about a complete and harmonious development of the individual! Working through the koshas and branches of Yoga: Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Japa Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Hatha Yoga. Her classes include Chanting, Meditation, Asanas, Yoga Nidra and Pranayama.
Practicing Integral Yoga leads to a peaceful mind an easeful body and a useful life. Lolli’s teachers and influences have been: Sivananda, Tara Fraser, Catherine James, Mary Stewart, John and Lolly Stirk, Shiva Rae, Mohini Chatalini, Eric Shiffman, Vanda Scaravelli, Ram Das, T K V Desikachar. She has attended many courses and retreats here and abroad to further her personal practice and knowledge.
A note from Lolli:
I am so happy to take over this wonderful space to share not just yoga, but for it to be a safe space and community (Sangha) that we can all come together for yoga, sharing, learning, support and laughter.
Om shanti shanti shanti
