Thaxted Yoga is delighted to invite you to our lovely studio location just over a mile from Thaxted town centre. Easily accessible from Saffron Walden, Great Dunmow, Stansted Mountfitchet, Bishop’s Stortford and surrounding villages, and about 45 min to an hour from London, our studio boasts stunning views over the Essex countryside, lush greenery (including our moss wall and living pictures) and a warm and welcoming escape from the pressure of everyday life.
Thaxted Yoga was founded in 2014 by Casey Gill with the aim of bringing yoga closer to the residents of Thaxted and surrounding towns and villlages, proving you don’t have to live in a big city to benefit from practicing in a studio. Our first classes began on Casey’s return from the Middle East in September 2014 with humble beginnings on the top floor of the Thaxted Guildhall. Following our first 4 months of classes in the Guildhall, we soon realised we wanted a permanent space to call home and we longed for a calming and relaxing dedicated environment to make your class experience even more enjoyable.
Our first studio location on Newbiggen Street was a fantastic start, and although a relatively small space we quickly saw that creating our own environment was one of the best decisions we could have made as it simply made our classes that little bit more special. Sadly our lease came to an end which prompted us to search for a new space with the main criteria remaining as close to Thaxted as possible. After nearly 10 months of searching we finally found a suitable space available and warmly welcome you to our studio located at Hammer Hill Farm in Stanbrook, Thaxted. We now have an incredible team of teachers with a variety of classes and workshops, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Our philosophy at Thaxted Yoga is that anyone, anywhere can do yoga and everyone deserves a retreat from everyday life…even in the middle of the Essex countryside! We are a friendly and approachable bunch of folks who warmly welcome you to our studio to practice yoga, relax, unwind, smile and make new friends. We also believe in creating an atmosphere embracing nature and making the most of our stunning views. Plants play a big part in our studio design (officially called biophilic design) and you will love our moss wall, living pictures, and variety of plants around the studio. There is a real synergy with the plants in our studio releasing oxygen and improving air quality, whilst our deep exhales help the plants thrive by our release of carbon dioxide. It is well documented that our connection with plants and nature helps boost wellness, improves focus and just generally makes us feel happy! All of the teachers at Thaxted Yoga have been selected based on their experience and qualifications and we are pleased to offer a variety of classes running 7 days a week. Our classes include Beginner’s Courses, Gentle Yoga, Hatha/Flow Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Mindful Flow, Integral Yoga, Men’s Yoga and Meditation. We offer special workshops every month including Gong Baths and we plan to offer more classes as the demand presents itself.
